Oh my! What memories of my own tree climbing childhood you stir. Mine was a pear tree in northwestern Pennsylvania and I climbed that tree so often I can still see the branches’ formations where I nestled to read escaping many summers’ heat. My last memory was reading Michener’s The Source in high school. But the birches - we didn’t have those near. And now I want to go find one to find the swish…. Thank you for this one!

Thank you for sharing, Dan. I've climbed large pines before, never birches, but your description and that of Mr. Frost paint a beautiful picture.
