My heart is breaking, and I am sure there are many others also feeling this pain. I need to believe there are many, many, like souls out there. We need to use our vote to stop this madness. Not only is this administration hurting out country but also disrupting our world order. I have had an English pen pal since 1957, (yes, I did say "pen pal") who also follows politics closely. To hear how our allies are monitoring our situation and their fears is also scary. We must all work to have a free and honest mid-term election!

You aren’t wrong!

Miller is evil and Trump is a puppet for all the evil!

It's quite interesting that a man whose Jewish ancestors immigrated to America is so invested in creating an authoritarian Christian nationalist state.

Interesting is one of those words, isn’t it? I think SM is filled to the brim with hatred, self loathing and evil stuff… looks like he found himself the right partner to (unfortunately) pro create with. UGH. Those poor kids, and those poor forefathers! I for one am so glad I’m not related to that hideous worm tongue. 🤮.

One of my middle school teachers really disliked the word "interesting". She felt it had little meaning

I agree that Miller is filled with self-loathing and a tremendous amount of anger.

It's sad to think of he and his wife as parents.

You called it months ago, Dan. Herr Goebbels.

Thank you for putting the focus on Miller who too often operates covertly behind the curtain. He has a warped view of America and the world and is pulling Trump's puppet strings to have him dance to Miller's tune. Sickening.

Thank you, Dan Rodricks, fellow Catholic, fellow newspaperman, Baltimore's Jimmy Breslin -- only better, because he's our guy. "With countries, just like with people, it’s easy to let the best of yourself slip away," Bruce Springsteen reminded us. A police state, indeed, and we witnessed our government summarily executing one of its citizens yesterday, as the videos clearly show.

Shame on the U.S. bishops conference for not speaking out on this and for going silent altogether on immigration since approving the “pastoral statement” in November. Shame on the bishops for not speaking out on Trump’s invasion of Venezuela and support for the ruthless dictator Rodríguez, who the UN found committed war crimes through the systematic torture of politcal opponents while overseeing the nation’s intelligence agency. Shame on the bishops for not speaking out on Trump’s revoking TPS protection for 600,000 Venezuelans now facing deportation to a country that has become even more of a police state since Maduro’s departure. Shame on the bishops for never once condemning Trump’s sending some 250 Venezuelan deportees to be tortured at CECOT – “heinous monsters, rapists, murderers, kidnappers, sexual assaulters, predators who have no right to be in this country,” Leavitt (who calls herself a Catholic) told us, when, in fact, as Human Rights Watch and Central American human rights organization Cristosal documented, all of eight of them had ever been convicted of a violent of potentially violent offense. And, as Sharyn Alfonsi reported in the “60 Minutes” segment Trump lackey Bari Weiss pulled, Trump has more multimillion dollar deals to send U.S. deportees to other so-called third countries, nations to which they have no connection, including South Sudan and Uganda, which have well-documented histories of torturing prisoners. I have a son adopted from Guatemala in 2007 as a 9-month-old, and I know full well (and will document in coming coverage) that masked ICE agents have repeatedly harassed, assaulted and arrested Hispanic U.S. citizens. Enough.

I love your newsletter and your columns in the Baltimore Fishbowl and the Baltimore Brew, Dan, and can hardly wait to see your latest play, “No Mean City.”

Cheers,

Gary

The movie “Downfall” is probably the closest we’re going to get to an accurate picture of life in the Trump White House. You can imagine Albert Speer designing the ballroom.

Ashli Babbitt's family received just under $5 million because she was shot by an officer protecting Congress in the Capitol during trump-incited invasion to overturn the election. Let's see what happens to the officer who killed Renee for doing her lawful civic duty. We need to know who he is, what his background is. Stephen Miller and trump are directly responsible for her death. Like the Governor Walz said, sending trump's goons to Minneapolis was a disaster waiting to happen. And it did. These goons are overpaid and under trained.

Someone needs to set Miller straight. HE'S A JEW FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! Where does he get off fomenting his own national Holocaust?

Normally, I rage when CNN allows this evil person to pollute its airwaves, but Jake Tapper's Monday interview with him should be required viewing.

He was absolutely and completely unhinged from everything I could see. And once he got going it was like a ball rolling down a hill and just carried forward by momentum. Though his momentum was vipuration.

I know it’s wrong to judge a book by its cover…but the vitriol seeps right out, doesn’t it?!!! Miller, to me looks like evil personified. UGH. He certainly hasn’t done anything to make me see the good in him. 🤮
